Email vs. Snail Mail
Gone are the
days of eagerly waiting for the postman, who, once he arrives, you will chat with on the front porch while
offering him lemonade and while opening your much awaited letters from some
place down the road and ‘over yonder’. The art of letter writing and personal
greeting cards is fast becoming a vanishing specialty and has been replaced by
trendy e-cards and e-mail. Although the advantages of these modern improvements
allow for the speedy correction of an almost forgotten birthday, they seem to erase
the personal touch that a letter and greeting card carried through ‘snail mail’
bring. Allowing that there sometimes may be a necessity for e-cards and e-mail,
most people still prefer to receive tangible correspondence hand delivered to
their mailbox.
When sifting through the day’s
mail, no one can deny that the discovery of a hand addressed greeting card or
letter from a friend, amid the monotonous pile of bills and junk mail, brings an
expectant smile to their face! The holiday season is the best time to greet
your friends and family with a tangible Christmas greeting card sent through
‘snail mail’. It really does mean a lot and
Christmas is a time of year when we all seem to walk more briskly than usual to
the mailbox to see “Who sent us a Christmas Card today?”
