I grew up watching the animated Christmas specials…some of which were a sort of Claymation and some of which were cartoons. I loved these series and can still sing songs from many of them. Take a walk down memory lane with me and see if you remember these great television Christmas specials…
One of my very favorites is “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. The beginning words, spoken by Charlie Brown: “I think there must be something wrong with me Linus. Christmas is coming but I don’t feel happy, I don’t feel the way I am supposed to feel.” These words will be spoken by many this year…and I hope the community spirit of this special will lead to neighbors helping neighbors to have meaningful holidays.
Another of my favorites is “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”…a great story about being different and finding meaning and importance in your gifts. This is the segment where they sing “We’re a Couple of Misfits”.

I absolutely love “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”. A magnificent character created by Dr.Suess, animated by Chuck Jones. Obviously, another great message about the true meaning of Christmas being our love for our family and our community. We are in a time where our nation could use a whole lotta love right now…so let’s all gather around and be inspired by Mr. Grinch.
