I have a tip for all of you taking vacations to the beach - make Photo Christmas cards out of your vacation photos! Three years ago we went to Chile for Christmas. The fun thing about South America is that December is the heart of summer. We were able to take pictures of us swimming in the water, tanning on the beach, and playing beach volleyball. It made a great photo Christmas card.

I recently saw a photo Christmas card featuring a family decked out in shorts and swimsuits on the beach and it reminded me of this fun-filled time a few years back. They were all tan, all basking in the sun, and all enjoying the “holiday season”.

Take many shots of your family. Take some pictures of everyone in sunglasses. Take pictures of the kids building sandcastles, family members in front of a big wave, or other shots. Pictures of crashing waves can tie in to the collage. There are always soothing sunset pictures too. A family walk on the beach could be a perfect shot.

No matter what your beach photos look like, they will be welcomed on your photo Christmas cards. They’ll arrive when the weather is chill and the days of summer are long gone for several months. To me, there isn’t a better way to start off the new year.
