Blue Christmas, or Is It?
Found a Photo Christmas Card that reminded me of Elvis’ song “Blue Christmas”. I guess it is because it reminds me of being a part from my loved ones during a time of year that is really meaningful to me. I can think of only one or two times that I didn’t make it back to see my family, and those were lonely times.
But that brings me back to a point that you will probably hear me say repeatedly. The holidays are not about who got what present (ok, they are a little bit about who got what present), they are about having our loved ones near to us. For many of us, that will be a challenge this year. With the prices of oil and the economy, we will have to pinch each penny until it yelps in order to make this season as bright as it can be.
So, what about the idea of making gifts for your family instead of buying gifts? If you are fortunate enough to go home, chances are high you spent quite a lot on the tickets, so why not use your ingenuity and your heart to create something really meaningful?
How about a handmade candle or a handmade Christmas ornament? Or even a wonderful baked good? Each year, I make baskets of truffles, cookies, and candies to share with my co-workers and my friends.
And if you have colleagues or clients you want to connect with, a great way to do that is with a corporate letter. We have an awesome letter that you can personalize that shows you care and also respects your budget…my favorite design is below.

I would love to know more about what you will be doing to acknowledge this time of the year and also how you will be creating affordable presents.
