Make Your Own Christmas Stocking
Making your own Christmas stocking is fun…and you won’t even have to sew! What you will need is a bit
of creativity and ingenuity to personalize your holiday experience.
Items needed:
- Old Christmas stocking
- 1/4 inch fusable tape
- Pins
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Iron and board
- Ribbon
- Craft glue
Start by placing your old Christmas stocking on a layer of fabric. Trace the shape to create your first side. Place the stocking on your second piece of fabric, this time tracing about a half inch additional space around the shape.
Now, fold over the fabric approximately 1/2 inch around the outer edge of the larger piece of fabric. Make sure the fabric is right side out. Pin the edges as you go. Iron over the folded edges.
Next, slip the smaller piece under the folded edge, right side out. Take fusible tape and place between the edge of the overlapping fabric and the underlying fabric. Iron into place. Let cool.
If the fabric isn’t finished on the upper edge, fold over the top of the stocking, pin into place and create a crease as above. Insert fusible tape, iron into place and let cool.
Cut small length of ribbon, create a loop, and attach to the top rear corner of the stocking with craft glue. This loop will allow you to hang your stocking.
That’s all it takes to make your own stocking for Christmas. Now, think of all the ways you could decorate it!
