Photo Christmas Cards in a Foreign Country
Have you ever thought of this? For three years of my life, I lived in Santiago, Chile where the Christmas season is right in the middle of the summer. It’s hot, dry and extremely sunny - a beautiful place to remember the “Season”.
In contrast, where I grew up December can be one of the coldest times of the year. Blizzards, wind chill at way below zero - a not-so-pleasant outdoor experience. In fact, a few Christmas’ ago, it snowed so hard that school was closed for nearly two weeks. The worst part about that was we weren’t really able to go anywhere due to the terrible weather.
I think it’d be great to retrieve some old pictures of my times in Chile and send them as photo Christmas cards. I could put them in a collage and remind people how wonderful it was to bask in the Santiago sun.
I would especially include the San Antonio beach near Algarobos where the sand is white like snow. Or even better than that, I could do a comparison picture: one side could have me laying in the sand with my sun glasses while the other side could be a family member slaving away shoveling snow from our sidewalk.
