One of my favorite kinds of photo Christmas cards are the ones that have kids sitting on Santa’s lap. You can get a photo at the mall, the church party, or anywhere Santa will be. Start early - right when Santa is starting to make public appearances. That way you’ll have enough time to get your cards ordered.

One year when my son was one I took him to see Santa. A neighborhood group sponsored the event. I brought my digital camera and snapped a picture. My son hated sitting on Santa’s lap - he was afraid of the man! So he just screamed and screamed. His back is arching and he looks so mad. It’s the funniest card ever!

So don’t think your child has to be cute to get a great shot for your Christmas card. Capture the moment exactly how it transpires.

If you can’t get a shot with a live Santa, try one with a cutout, statue, or as a last resort, you can take a picture of everyone with a Santa hat on.
