“Robbing the Hitter of a Home Run” Photo Christmas Cards
Amazing. Spectacular. Maybe even annoying. If you follow baseball, I’m sure you’ve seen a few of these “MVP-like” plays. There are so many pictures that could be turned in to photo Christmas cards of an outfielder, but I think one of the best would be this: a picture of this cat-like specimen climbing up the wall to snatch the ball out of the air prior to leaving the yard.
One of the best examples of this was Gary Matthews Jr. On June 17, 2007, Matthews reached over the fence at Ameriquest Field to deny the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Shawn Green of a home run. Two weeks later, Matthews topped that by robbing the Houston Astros’ Mike Lamb of a home run with a twisting, leaping catch so breathtaking that Hall of Famer and ESPN analyst Joe Morgan said it was the best he had seen. Is there a “Photo Christmas Card Hall of Fame”? If there isn’t, there definitely should be.
So, how can we tie this in to the Christmas season? We could use phrases like:
- “Hoping” You have a Great Holiday Season
- You Better Watch Out, You Better Not “Rob”
- Joy to the World, You Saved the Game - Happy Holidays
These are just some fun ideas. I encourage you to do something creative this year on your photo Christmas cards. Play Ball!
