The Family Who Sold Their House, Moved Into An RV & Travelled

I ran across a truly inspiring blog that I hope you take the time to read. It’s basically the family journal of their adventures. They actually voluntarily sold their house (by choice, not necessity), moved into an attractive RV and started traveling with their 5 and 6 year old girls. Hey if you have a flexible job (or don’t need to work) and if you’re willing to home school and have the opportunity to give the children some real hands on experience, then why not. Right?

They apparently had many adventures, learning experiences and met famous people, including the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. They met him on a Sunday at church where he actually taught the lesson. Of course they got a picture with him, which will be used for their photo Christmas cards. Even though the girls don’t truly understand the significance of that picture now, they will down the road.

Another great destination of theirs was the Global Village & Discovery Center. Donations from GVDC go towards Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is a humanitarian organization that educates and helps build decent housing for people around the world.  GVDC has created realistic looking villages from all around the world that allow children to explore homes of poor people (shacks really) from different countries around the world. As they follow their map they stamp the places they’ve visited.
