In most parts of the Northern Hemisphere February can be a very boring and sometimes depressing month.  It’s generally cold and the days are short. Have you ever noticed there are times when you go outside and soak up some sun and get a little bit of exercise (intentional or not), you actually feel good. Well, many doctors and scientists believe that a lack of sunshine and exercise are directly linked to the blues. We need sunshine, fresh air and exercise. No wonder so many people fly south for the winter.  Many people find a hobby will also distract them from winter blues.

So if you’re fighting the February blues and taking a vacation to a tropical place isn’t an option for you, then here’s an idea for you! Grab your camera, get outside and start getting creative. You never know what kind of great pictures you’ll come up with for your photo Christmas cards. If there’s still snow on the ground in your neck of the woods, then it’ll be easy to get those winter “Christmas” scenes.

There are also often photo contests for all ages that you can find online by doing a simple Google search.
