I’ve never played football but can only imagine some 300 pound right tackle come exploding up the middle to smash me in to the ground.  As I picture this whole collission in my mind, it makes me think, “Wouldn’t that make a great photo Christmas card?”

Go with me on this, it makes perfect sense.  What if the right tackle of whom we are speaking had a hidden camera afixed to the top of his helmet.  As he came barreling toward the fragile quarterback, it’d be great to get a snap shot of the QB’s face prior to impact.  It’d probably be like a “deer in the headlights” type pose.

Of all the positions in football, I definitely admire the quarterback.  He carries the weight (literally at times) of the team on his shoulders.  If they win, thank the quarterback; if they lose, thank the quarterback.  It’s one thing if the poor victim doesn’t get to get the ball away before taking the hit for the team.  It’s another, though, if he does make a great pass, only to take the smash by the defence nonetheless.

We should all count our blessings this year and put the picture of a quarterback somewhere on our photo Christmas cards.
