What are Photo Christmas Cards?

A Christmas card, also known as a holiday card in the United States, is a greeting card that is decorated in a manner that celebrates Christmas. Typical content ranges from truly Christian symbols such as Nativity scenes and the Star of Bethlehem to purely secular references, sometimes humorous, to seasonal weather or common Christmastime activities like shopping and partying. Christmas cards are exchanged during the Christmas season (around December 25) by many people (including non-Christians) in Western culture and in Asia.

This is the definition, but does this have to be the norm for photo Christmas cards?  I really don’t think so.  I feel that photo Christmas cards are a representation of who you are, a reminder of the importance of the family and friends.

One of the best photo Christmas cards I ever received was from a close friend of mine about 7 years ago.  The friend and her husband had been trying to have a child for about 7 years and had several miscarriages.  This particular year had been even worse than that however.

In July, my friend gave birth to twins - a small boy and a little girl.  Both were very small and the chances were slim that they would survive.  Doctors did all they could but, after about 1 week of hope and prayers, the two children passed away.  It was an extremely tough time for all involved.  Their Christmas card that year was in remembrance of their two little angels.  It was a bitter sweet photo Christmas card.
