Why do retail stores and malls go all out with advertising around Christmastime?

The truth about Christmas advertising and christmas shopping

Why does every mall have a "Santa Village with a Santa
sitting on a throne and children clamoring to sit on his lap? Stores and malls
have been revved up about Christmas since the late 1800’s when Macy’s started
the tradition with their Christmas window displays and started staying open
until midnight on Christmas Eve. The
whole tradition snowballed from there.

In America
today, the short weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are by far the
biggest retail sales event of the whole year. The survival of most retail
stores depends on how well they do during the Christmas buying season. It is
for that reasons that the retailers come up with all the advertising, special
deals and long hours. They do whatever they can to stir up a buying frenzy
getting customers into a Christmas buying spirit and to attract them to their
stores. Festive decorations, big ads, Santa’s Villages and all the rest are
part of that process.

Most Christmas cards are also sold during that time frame, putting a real
burden on the greeting card industry - especially for those who personalize Christmas
cards for business
. With all the online ordering of not only Christmas cards
but all kinds of gifts, causes a real burden on delivery systems such as UPS,
FedEx and USPS.

Worried about being able to afford Christmas Cards and other items this year?

Tips on how to prepare for the expense of Christmas Cards, gifts, parties, etc.

If you are concerned about having enough money for your
Christmas cards and other gift items and the necessary items to throw a party
this holiday season, it’s best to try and start working early to save up and
look for good deals. I will spend this week offering some tips that hopefully
will help in this process.

First of all, now, in the springtime, is a popular time for moving. A lot of
folks who need to move, put their house on the market in the spring, hoping to
get moved before school starts in the fall. Because of this there are always a
lot of yard sales or garage sales in which you might be able to pick up.

Sometimes you can find books that look as good as new, or toys also that look
new. Often you can find nice baskets that you could use to put other new items
in to make up inexpensive but elegant gift baskets. In a couple of days I will offer a few more tips or suggestions in how to prepare for Christmas with as little stress as necessary on the wallet.

Send a Tropical Christmas card

Tropical Christmas card

Ok, so you live in a warmer climate—but, no matter what those northerners say, Christmas in the sand can be just as special as Christmas in the snow.

When asked what things remind one of Christmas, words like snow, snowman, Christmas trees, holly, and sledding seem to be at the forefront of the list. For those people who do live year round in the sun, and have never built a snowman, it may be difficult to find a holiday greeting card that rightly represents your location when your only choices seem to be of a wintry wonderland.

Keeping this dilemma in mind, Designcrafters has a special "Tropical Christmas card" category of holiday greeting cards specifically intended for those living in more tropical climates. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a little pleasure yourself this season by choosing a non-traditional card just to remind those chilly relatives up north that you’re cozy and warm on the beach, right next to your finely decorated palm tree!

I personally know a number of folks (including my in-laws) who love to "rub it in"  that they are enjoying warm temperatures while we are freezing our behinds off during the winter months. Here’s youre chance in if you are one of those so fortunate.

A Traditional Christmas in Modern Society

Finding traditional greeting cards in an overly trendy and modern society

 Many people enjoy
and look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas simply for the traditions of the
holiday season. Traditionally, most greeting
cards
would feature a scene meant be a personification of the Christmas
spirit—a family seated around a fire, a beautiful poinsettia with red ribbon,
the manger scene, or candy canes and stockings. Traditional greeting cards have always been praised for their delicate
and realistic portrayal of whatever appeared on the cover. However, there are people who still enjoy the
traditions of the holidays but prefer a more contemporary and modern look for
their cards. Contemporary greeting cards
feature graphics and objects still associated with the Christmas spirit but
portrayed in a more avant-garde and abstract manner. Whatever your preference may be - a
traditionalist or a trend-setter, there is a greeting card to suit your tastes!
