Seeing Your Smiling Faces at the Holidays

Personalizing Christmas greeting cards is a trend I just love to see.  Not that there is anything wrong with receiving cards that have lovely reproductions of wintertime scenes or christmas lights on the front of them, but there’s just something really wonderful about seeing our friends and families and their smiling faces on the front of the cards we receive.

This is just one of the many beauties of photo Christmas cards. You can add any picture and any phrase you’d like, with just about any sort of theme you could imagine.  It means a lot more to have a personalized card like that. Think about it…When you receive Christmas cards in the mail, which ones do you notice? Which ones mean more? A certain family member of mine saw me writing this blog post and answered “the ones with the money in them.” That’s not quite what I meant, but had to laugh anyhow. Somebody’s getting a lump of coal in their stocking!

I’m sure I’m not alone in that when I receive Christmas cards with pictures and/or a personal note, those mean so much more to me than a pre-printed impersonal message.  I can also put the photo greeting cards in a photo album.  The recipients of your Christmas cards are likely to enjoy such cards from you, too.

The Forbidden City, Pictures That Vanish & One Last Photo Christmas Card Hope

The problem with going to someplace like the Forbidden City is that you end up with so many incredible pictures, it’s hard to choose which one to use for your Christmas photo greeting cards. Unless of course you’re like Sam.

Sam is a college student I ran across who came across the opportunity to do some service in China. This was especially a big deal as he never in his life had even been outside his own state. One of the “must visit” places was the Forbidden City. He packed up his 35mm camera, jumped on the plane, visited the Forbidden City and apparently got some fantastic photos. Or so he claims. Unfortunately his luggage with the film, camera and pictures mysteriously disappeared and was never recovered. His intention was to scan these pictures (making them digital) and turn them into photo cards. For once in his life he could share his adventures, instead of everyone telling him about theirs.

You can probably imagine his disappointment when it all disappeared. But that didn’t stop him. He was lucky enough to have a friend who knew just what to do. They actually went online, downloaded a picture of The Forbidden City and super imposed himself into the picture.

It apparently looked real, convincing everyone and allowing him to still share his adventure.

Why send Photo Christmas Cards

Photo Christmas Cards are so versatile that they are equally appropriate for Business and Personal use.

Photo Christmas cards have always been popular for personal use as families like to give pictoral updates as to how their children have grown and certainly if there has been an addition to the family. Everyone would be dressed up in festive colors, often with matching or coordinating outfits and when mounted or printed on a card with a colorful holiday designed border, it makes for a great and very personal holiday card.

More recently business have caught on to the idea of using photo cards to display a more personal touch to their advertising. It’s so nice to add faces to names for their clients. With a group shot of the staff - all the smiling faces, the company image comes accross as being warm and friendly. It gives the appearance of everyone being a happy cohesive group - people with whom anyone should enjoy doing business.

These photo cards are gaining popularity as more sophisticated designs have become available and the idea of trying to portray a more personal image to one’s clients is catching on as being the way to go. Almost gone is the sterile environment as companies are trying more and more to be more "user" friendly.
