The Unexpected Furry Friend In Their Photo Christmas Cards
Recently with the warm weather, the kids have been leaving the doors wide open as they run in and out of the house. With that, I’ve noticed we suddenly have many uninvited eight legged visitors. As of last night I believe little furry four little friends have invited themselves in as well. Time to bring out the traps and remind the kids to keep the doors closed. Anyhow, last night when I thought I heard a small critter chewing up my dresser, I was reminded of a Christmas photo my family received when I was a kid.
Back in the 1980’s a family friend sent us a classical Christmas picture of their family posed in front of their enormous fireplace. The mantle was beautifully decorated with real pine boughs, holly, Christmas stockings and other Christmas decorations. This family was famous for their authentic Christmas decorations, their passion for the Nutcracker and their passion for animals. So when I saw a small mouse perched on the mantle in the picture, I didn’t say anything because I thought it was either their family pet they wanted in the picture or it was a cute decoration in celebration of the Nutcracker.
As it turns out, they had no idea the real live mouse was perched on the mantle at the exact moment the picture was taken. It was hardly noticeable, but when another kid said “cute mouse”, they were quite surprised. Talk about perfect timing. He seriously looked like part of the Christmas setup.
