Christmas Butter Cookies
This Christmas Eve, start a tradition with your family by making Christmas butter cookies as a family. Each year, since I was a little girl, my mother and I would bake these cookies on either Christmas Eve of the day before. It is a fun, easy way to spend some relaxing quality time before the hectic holidays begin. Here is what you will need:
-
1 cup butter
-
1 cup white sugar
-
1 egg
-
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Here is what you are going to do:
- To begin, cream together the butter and white sugar in a large bowl, until light and fluffy.
- Next, beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine the flour and salt, and stir into the sugar mixture. Cover dough, and chill for at least one hour.
- Chill cookie sheets, and preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Press dough out onto ungreased, chilled cookie sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly golden at the edges. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
Happy Holidays!
