The Holidays seem to bring out the spirit of giving in all of us, even the children. During a time when children are generally more concerned about what they themselves are going to get for Christmas, it is truly wonderful to see a child who’s been bit by the giving bug. Children are amazing little beings and full of surprises. As a parent, it never ceases to amaze me the things they think of on their own.
Recently I had an experience with my own little son. I’ve been quite concerned with his “me, me, me” attitude and have been trying to think if ways to help him get “outside” of himself. He never seemed interested in helping other people unless it benefited him somehow. Then the other day he shocked the socks off of me. He did the kindest thing I had ever seen him do and it was all his idea.
We were in a restaurant that had a claw machine with a bunch of stuffed Christmas animals, when a lady won a reindeer and gave it to my son. As we were waiting for our food he saw a little boy who didn’t have a toy. Without me, he walked over to this little boy and gave him the reindeer. You should have seen the look on the other little boys face. At that moment I saw an expression on my son’s face I had never seen before. I think he finally realized the meaning of the Christmas feeling. It was a good lesson to me too.
Have a great weekend and have fun making those photo Christmas cards.

Today while searching for creative ideas for photo Christmas cards, I ran into the perfect article written by a lady with some very funny ideas. She sounds like a hoot and by the sounds of it, would be a fun person to be around. Her husband and kids must be pretty neat people too to go along with her ideas.
Last year for Christmas she and her family went to the edge of the woods and dressed up as a Santa’s sleigh and reindeer. Are you wondering how someone could dress up as a sleigh? Apparently her husband was in a wheelchair and the wheelchair was “transformed” into the sleigh. The kids then dressed up as reindeer. Unfortunately I can’t remember if she was a reindeer or if she was Mrs. Claus. Nevertheless, they were suppose to look like Santa’s sleigh out in the woods on his journey to deliver gifts. She says they had a blast doing it, which brings me to my next thought.
If you decide to do something like this, remember to make it fun! You’re not just taking a picture, you’re creating memories. If it’s not fun, then what’s the point? It’s ok to show some character in the pictures :0)
Join us tomorrow for some more ideas and stories about photo Christmas cards.

The origin of Rudolf
Who is this Rudolf character who guides Santa’s sleigh with the red glowing nose that can penetrate a thick fog?
The whole story of Rudolf appeared, out of nowhere, in 1939. Santas at
Montgomery Ward stores gave away 2.4 million copies of a booklet
entitled "Rudolf the Red-Nose Reindeer." The story was written by a
person in the advertising department named Robert May, and the booklet
was illustrated by Denver Gillen.
The original name of the reindeer was
not Rudolf, according to the book "Extraordinary Origins of Everyday Things,"
by Charles Panati. The original name was Rollo, but executives did not
like that name, nor Reginald. The name Rudolf came from the author’s
young daughter! In 1949, Gene Autry sang a musical version of the poem
and it was a run-away best-seller. The Rudolf song is second only to
"White Christmas" in popularity.
You can see Rudolf with his red nose and team of reindeer on many Christmas cards every Christmas season
