Lost Pictures On Airplane Randomlly Show Up In The Mail

Although this story isn’t about photo Christmas cards in particular, I thought it would be a nice one for you to hear. We often here only the negative experiences people have with airlines, but ABC11 Troubleshooter Diane Wilson turns the tables a bit when shares with us her personal, uplifting experience she had with Northwest Airlines.

For Christmas, she met her fiancés family for the first time. At that time she also asked her fiancés mother for pictures of the family to display at the wedding. His mom went above and beyond for this request by having the photos blown up and touched up. After all of that time and effort, Diane and her fiancé accidentally left the envelope of pictures in the overhead compartment. All efforts to track it down were fruitless. What was she going to tell her future in-laws?

After about a month, one of the relatives received the pictures in the mail. How could this be?  Apparently inside the envelope of pictures was the address of the relative who touched them up. Someone at Northwest Airlines actually took the time and personal initiative to mail those photos back.  Talk about going the extra mile.

This story is especially amazing to me because of my own personal experience trying to retrieve lost items. In our case it was actually the car rental place located at the airport. I know for a fact that my son’s friends’ new jacket and soccer ball were in that rental car, but despite all efforts, they apparently disappeared into thin air.

Fun Christmas Decoration Ideas

In lieu of the Christmas season I decided to do a search for more great Christmas decoration ideas to share with you.

I ran across some great ideas for Christmas weddings. So if you know of anyone getting married around Christmas, start taking notes.  One truly unique idea I ran across was the idea of a Christmas tree skirt that the guests sign. Talk about a guest book of a different kind.

In the way of center piece ideas, I came across some fun ideas that are great for weddings and other events, or just around your own house for decoration.

• You can have decorated, yet still edible candy canes tied together in the middle of the table OR you can have one at each table setting for each guest.

• Floating poinsettia candles in a decorative bowl or vase.
• Floating peppermint candy candles in a decorative bowl or vase.
• Candy Cane pillar candles for the center of each table.

If you’re worried about the candles getting knocked over or the kids accidentally burning themselves, you can decrease the risk by having the candles in glass candle vases, versus having them stand alone.

Don’t forget the sprigs of pine, fir or holly to place around your center pieces. Fake pine or fir sprigs tend to look somewhat tacky, so the real thing will definitely be more attractive and give you that real holiday feel. Now using real pine or fir you may run into people with allergies. To be on the safe side, it may be a good idea to have handy some generic over the counter allergy relievers for that occasional guest who has that specific allergy.
